Optomap Retinal Imaging
Your eye care practitioner will decide if your pupils need to be dilated or you can have an Optomap retinal scan done instead, depending on the health of your eyes.
Getting an Optomap image is fast, painless, and comfortable. Nothing touches your eye at any time. It is suitable for the whole family. You simply look into the device with one eye at a time (like looking through a keyhole) and you will see a flash of light to let you know the image of your retina has been taken. The image capture takes less than a half-second and they are available immediately for you to see your own retina. You see exactly what your eye care practitioner sees – even in a 3D animation.
An Optomap Retinal Exam provides:
- A scan to confirm a heathy eye or to detect the presence of disease
- An overview of map of the retina, giving your doctor more detailed view than can be achieved by other means
- The opportunity for you to view and discuss the Optomap images of your eye with your doctor at the time of your exam
- A permanent record for your medical file, enabling your doctor to make important comparisons if potential problems show themselves at a future examination
